FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THERAPY
WHAT IS AN ASSOCIATE OR PRE-LICENSED THERAPIST?
The journey to become a licensed therapist is a long one! After graduate school, therapists must complete thousands of supervised hours before they are eligible to take their licensing exam. Working under the supervision of a licensed therapist allows them to see clients while consulting and receiving guidance from a more seasoned therapist, often for a lower fee than what a licensed therapist may charge. Every week, the entire Mind Hive team meets up to consult about cases and reflect on their work in order to ensure that every single client is getting the best possible care.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
Our fees range from $60-100 per session for our pre-licensed therapists to $150 for licensed therapists. In order to make therapy financially feasible for more people, we currently offer a limited amount of sliding scale appointment slots. We encourage you to discuss cost concerns during the initial phone consultation, it's important to us that we make competent and informed therapy available to as many people as possible.
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
We do not currently bill insurance companies directly. We can provide a monthly superbill for partial reimbursement for clients with PPO insurance with out of network benefits, but some insurance providers don't reimburse for therapy with an associate (pre-licensed) therapist.
WHAT TYPES OF THERAPY DO YOU OFFER?
We offer individual, relationship (couple, triad and other relationship structures included), and family therapy for adults, adolescents and teens.
We are an eclectic group of therapists who have experience and training in working with trauma, depression and anxiety, co-dependency and relational difficulties, sexual health, ethical non-monogamy, queerness and LGBTQIA+ issues, and sex work.
We pull from psychodynamic, narrative, feminist and queer theory, and relational modalities.
